The Lighthouse! Non Spoiler Review

The Lighthouse! This is movie is incredible! Shot in black and white, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe play lighthouse keepers and things take a dark turn very fast. The story Robert Eggers is telling is really really good. The films pacing is slow but that only helps it build the suspense and the unknowing of whats going to happen next. Cinematography done by Jarin Blaschke was hands down my favorite part of the film, it was truly spectacular. Mark Korven’s score was very intense all the way through the movie and went incredibly well with the cinematography. Pattinson and Dafoe were perfectly casted. The chemistry was all there and it seemed like they were trying to one up each other on how intense of a performance they can give. I can see why some theaters weren’t wanting to show the film because of how graphic it is in some parts of the film. There was a scene the felt like it didn’t belong but it wasn’t bad enough to actually have an impact on My Rating. The three seagulls they used in the film were very well trained and did excellent with their roles in the film. A24 has been on a roll with their movies lately! This is definitely in my Top 5 movies of 2019 as of now. If you love suspense and horror, this movie is definitely for you and I highly recommend you go see it if it’s in a theater near you!

Avengers: Endgame! *Mild Spoilers* Review!

Endgame! *Mild Spoliers* This movie was phenomenal! The Russo Brothers really put everything into this movie and it shows. For a movie that’s 3 hours long, it doesn’t drag on and they keep you pulled in all the way through. We go through all the emotions in this movie, they have us feeling really happy one moment and then they immediately rip it away from us. Robert Downey Jr (Ironman), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Josh Brolin (Thanos) were my favorite performances in the movie because of the build up these characters have had over the years and to see all of that come to a conclusion was a wonderful to see. Alan Silvestri’s score was incredible and went hand in hand with the cinematography done by Trent Opaloch. Opaloch’s cinematography was absolutely gorgeous in this movie, it’s easily one of my favorite parts about it. Cap picking up Mjolnir was unexpected and incredible. The scene where Cap is standing alone, ready to face Thanos’ army was an iconic shot and I’m glad they included that into the movie. The writing was done very well and I feel that nothing important was left out. After just watching this movie once, you can definitely see why it’s the highest grossing movie of all time. Lastly, I just want to give a big thank you to Robert Downey Jr for being Ironman and starting the MCU. What your thoughts on Endgame and what was your favorite moment? Let me know in the comments.

Rocketman! Movie Review!

Rocketman! This movie is really fun to watch! Not only does Taron Egerton deliver a great performance but he also has an amazing voice! I love hat Elton John himself was involved with the film and told Egerton be original with the role. I’m not sure exactly how accurate the movie is but I’m pretty sure it’s fairly accurate with the big moments. The cinematography done by George Richmond was really good it worked very well with the song selection. The Rocketman scene was VERY good and easily my favorite moment in the movie, the cinematography was great in the scene. The pacing was good as we got to see him at his highest and lowest moments, and really go to see the character develop. The song selection was really good as it included most of John’s hits. Personally, I would’ve liked them to do Elton John’s Candle In The Wind performance, but I understand that it wouldn’t have fit in with the movie. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone that likes Elton John or to anyone that likes music in general. Rocketman might actually make it into my Top 10 Movies of 2019, but we still have a couple months left in the year. If you seen the movie, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Midsommar! Non Spolier Review

Midsommar! (Non Spoiler) This movie is very good and very strange. Director and screenwriter Ari Aster sets the tone of the movie almost immediately in a really dark way. Once the friends arrive in Sweden the pacing picks up speed and doesn’t slow down one bit. Once they see how twisted and messed up this festival is the movie becomes unpredictable and that’s a good thing. The suspense of not having a clue of what is gonna happen next really gets your heart racing and has you on the edge of your seat, at least that’s what I took from it. Pawel Pogorzelski’s cinematography was good and definitely worked for Midsommar. For a movie with a dark tone to not have the cinematography match it was odd to me but I really like it and I have no complaints. The score was actually good and definitely adds to the intensity in some scenes. I still have so many questions about this movie but I think some of them are there for the viewers interpretation. This movie is very graphic in some scenes but I’m not going to say because you have to experience them for yourselves. Florence Pugh (Dani) delivers an absolutely incredible performance in this movie. It’s not often you see a performance like this and I hope she wins some kind of award for it. I really enjoyed this movie and I hope Ari Aster continues making films like this because they are so much fun to watch. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

Wonder Woman! *Small Spoilers* This movie is actually a really good installment in the DC Animated Universe. Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman was excellent casting and I would love to see her return in future movies, though Michelle Monaghan will always be my favorite. I liked the art style a lot in this one and it helps the movie standout from the others, but I think they should’ve stuck with the old art style but thats just my opinion. Some of the character designs look really good as well. Cheetah’s design was probably my favorite but Medusa looked good too. I like that they kept Wonder Woman’s costume the same and didn’t mess with it for continuity reasons. The pacing was slow at times but I think that because its lengthy movie and they had a lot of story to tell. I don’t read Wonder Woman’s comics so I’m not sure if this was adapted from any specific storyline or not. If any WW fans read this, let me know what you think of the movie! I know my rating is sort of low but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the movie, I genuinely enjoyed the movie. Lastly, I really like the direction the DCAU is heading and hopefully we get a Flash solo animated movie!

Joker! Movie Review *Non-Spoiler*

Joker! •Non-Spoilers• This movie is absolutely insane! Joaquin Phoenix delivers a truly iconic performance in this movie. For a film shot in so little time, Director Todd Phillips does amazing with “Joker”. Lawrence Sher’s cinematography was one of my favorite parts about this film! It’s was outstanding and really made Joker look even more scary and I really enjoyed it. Hildur Guonadóttir’s score truly complimented Sher’s cinematography in way that it gets your heart racing in certain scenes! The pacing is slow, but perfect enough that we get to know as much as possible about Arthur Fleck before he turns into Joker and that we fully understand why he made this transformation. The film doesn’t hold back on violence and can be intense in some scenes. Lastly, I’m not gonna compare Heath’s Joker to Phoenix’s because I feel that they are incomparable. With Ledger, he was already Joker when we meet him but with Phoenix, we get to see the character develop. I highly recommend seeing this movie if you haven’t already! Me, Myself & Irene! Movie Review

Me, Myself & Irene! Jim Carrey is hilarious in this movie as he plays Charlie and Hank Baileygates. Carrey and Renée Zellweger are great in this movie and will have you laughing all the through. The scene with the cow will always be my favorite no matter how many time I watch this movie. The way Carrey can switch characters is not only really funny, but it’s also pretty cool to see someone do that. The plot isn’t really that exciting but it’s the jokes and the comedy that make the movie worth while. The cinematography done by Mike Irwin was decent but I feel that having outstanding cinematography in a movie like this isn’t a must. “Me, Myself & Irene” is one of my favorite movies by Jim Carrey and if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you watch it. Crawl! Movie Review *Mild Spoilers*

This is an intense movie! Mild Spoilers ahead First off I just want to say that the cinematography is beautiful in this movie, especially if you watch it in 4K, and I really like when cinematographers can capture films in the way Maxime Alexandre did with Crawl. Crawl can be suspenseful at times and it pays off with well timed jump scares. Kaya Scodelario (Halley) absolutely crushes it in this movie and delivers and amazing performance. The intensity increases when the waters rise and it just adds to this thriller. But I do have to say I feel like the plot was forced at times. There were numerous moment when they had a clear chance to escape but just ended up putting themselves in more danger. That’s really the only thing negative I have to say, other than I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good thriller and really good camera work! If you’ve seen the movie! El Camino! Movie Review *Spoiler Free*

El Camino! (Spoiler Free) Vince Gilligan returns to deliver this incredible epilogue to a series we loved watching every week! I really liked that Gilligan returned to write and direct El Camino because it wouldn’t be the same if he hadn’t. Aaron Paul is incredible in the film and he shows us all the trauma the Jesse Pinkman went through during the events of Breaking Bad. it was really nice seeing some of the old cast return for this film (I’m not going to name them because, ya know, spoilers). The film is slow but that’s okay because Breaking Bad wasn’t fast paced and it worked very very well, and it works really good for El Camino as well. I would’ve loved to have seen Michael Slovis return to do the cinematography because his work on Breaking Bad was phenomenal, but Marshall Adams does a good job in the film. I definitely recommend this movie especially if you liked Breaking Bad, if you haven’t watched Breaking Bad then you’re missing out.

Geralds Game! Review

Geralds Game! Carla Gugino (Jessie) delivers a very intense performance in this movie and it’s incredible. The pacing picks up really quick and it really makes you think of what you would do in a situation like this. This movie is very graphic in some scenes and almost stomach turning at certain points toward the end. Bruce Greenwood (Gerald) does a good job in this as well. He really helps add the intensity when Jessie starts to try and get free. This movie is almost a masterpiece artistically in they way they can make you feel panic just like the character, but that’s just what I took from it. This movie is pleasantly gruesome, and what I mean by that is this is what you should expect to see in a Stephen King film. Mike Fimognari’s cinematography is solid, it’s not bad but it’s not great either. Director Mike Flanagan is doing really good with the Stephen King/Netflix adaptations and I hope he continues to do more of them in the future. I’d personally like to see him to a Cujo movie. I don’t want to say to much about this film because I really hope you guys give it a chance. If you have seen it, let me know what you think!
