“Sonic the Hedgehog” Review

Sonic the Hedgehog! Paramount did good with this movie for a couple of reasons. One being the complete redesign of Sonic. They listened to the fans and gave us a very accurate look for the character. Casting Ben Schwartz as Sonic was a great idea and he did very well along side James Marsden. Jim Carrey’s Doctor Eggman was hilarious and it was fun to see him bring the character to the big screen. The plot wasn’t the best but it was still enjoyable to watch. There quite a few slow motion scenes and my top favorite was the bar fight scene. The special effects were very nice and the attention to detail was insane. I think this movie could’ve used a more original story because the overall plot felt just like the Detective Pikachu movie all over again. The pacing was nice, the movie didn’t drag and the writers definitely keep you pulled in with all the cool stuff going on. Overall this movie is good and really fun to watch. You don’t need to know anything about Sonic to be able to watch it. I can’t wait for the sequel I hope we get see Knuckles make his debut!

“After Life” Season 1 Review

After Life! Ricky Gervais is an absolute genius for coming up with this series. Gervais plays Tony, a man who’s wife just passed away and he contemplates taking his own life. He decides he would rather punish the world by doing and saying whatever he wants. This show is flat out hilarious from the beginning to the very end and It also has it’s heartwarming moments, almost a perfect balance between the two. For a show that only has 6 episodes at a around 26 minutes each, the pacing and character development is all there and I think you can learn and relate to some of the characters you meet. Gervais perfectly captures the sadness and lain that Tony goes through and it’s simply fun to watch how he develops through the show. There’s a beautiful message that this show gives and I think it’s telling the viewers that no matter how tough everything gets, it will get better, you just got to have the right mindset. Or something along the lines of that, but that’s what I got from it lol. This show is definitely one of the funniest shows I’ve ever watched and I recommend watching it if you haven’t already!

“The Ritual” Movie Review

The Ritual! This movie is very terrifying and equally thrilling! We follow four friends as they hike through the Scandinavian wilderness. They eventually make a wrong turn and that leads them into the forests of a Norse legend. I love the character development for Luke (Rafe Spall), from the beginning when he witnesses his friend get murdered to how he reacts to the events that occur throughout the movie, it’s great development and I feel that sometimes horror movies can lack certain character development but The Ritual is does a good job. The jump scares are good, they’re fluent with what’s going on and they definitely aren’t forced. I thought the plot was well paced with a runtime of 1h 34m. I definitely would love to read the screenplay for this. I would’ve liked to have learned more about the creature and why it’s worshipped but I’m ok with the information given. I thought cinematography was great, it definitely helped give it a nice horror look to it. The score was phenomenal and I loved every single bit of it, it definitely increases the suspense and intensity for the movie and will definitely get your heart racing, so kudos to Ben Lovett on coming up with the music. There wasn’t a whole lot I didn’t like about this movie. I’m definitely going to watch it again. So with all that being said, this is probably one of my favorite horror movies I’ve reviewed on here and I would definitely recommend it to you guys and I hope you love it as much as I did!

“Guns Akimbo” Movie Review!

Daniel Radcliffe is amazing this movie! Lots of action, comedy, and some pop culture references really make this movie fun to watch. Radcliffe plays Miles Cassonva, a video game developer who ends up in a real life deathmatch that’s streamed online. Guns Akimbo almost reminds me of “Upgrade” in a way, and that’s because of how the main character is put in an unexpected situation where they receive upgrades to their body and they go on an action packed adventure. This movie is hilarious and what I loved about the humor is that it isn’t forced, it’s well timed and flows great with the plot. You’ll definitely be laughing through majority of it. I liked the cinematography, the use of a bright pink was a good choice to go with in some of the scenes and the camera work was good and what I mean by that is the angles that cinematographer Stefan Ciupek were really cool. The soundtrack was also real good with some remixes of popular songs. I guess my only complaint is that you can’t really take the plot seriously, yeah it’s really funny, but it can be slightly predictable. The humor doesn’t ruin the plot by any means. Other than that, I really enjoyed this movie and I definitely recommend it!

“The Wolf of Wall Street” Movie Review!

This is my second favorite performance from Leonardo DiCaprio. The charisma and energy he brings in this movie is incredible and so much fun to watch. DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort, a former Wall Street stockbroker who starts his own firm and makes his own fortune out of defrauding wealthy investors. With Jonah Hill (Donnie Azoff) as his partner, things get crazy and wild. I think Leo should’ve won an Oscar for that Lamborghini scene alone lol. Another thing I liked was how it shows Jordan’s personality change throughout the movie from when he’s broke and when he’s rich. The cinematography and score was good, I liked them and thought they went well with the movie, but I think the best part about this movie was the screen play written by Terence Winter. If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it!

“Batman v Superman” Movie Review!

Alright I know there are mixed opinions about this movie and if you didn’t like the movie, you probably won’t like my thoughts but please bear with me. Zack Snyder’s vision for this movie was amazing. The way we see Batman develop from someone who’s mad at the world to someone who is more sympathetic was nice to watch. I loved it. I liked the cinematography a lot and the score with it perfectly. Introducing Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot in their roles was nice and done well, and the same for Jesse Eisenberg. The story development was nice, but I think it was a bit off at times because so many thing were cut. The Ultimate Edition has those missing pieces but this a review on the theatrical cut. So with that being said, I understand why some people didn’t like as much. Plus, the whole Martha scene was a bit weird and I felt it could’ve been done better or just not done at all lol. Affleck felt like the perfect Batman; the pain, darkness, and just overall tone was just right. The big fight between the two title characters was stunning to watch but I was disappointed they showed it all in the trailers. Henry Cavil as Superman is perfect casting and I hope we see him again.

Marriage Story! Movie Review

Marriage Story! Adam Driver and Scarlet Johansson are phenomenal in this movie! Their performances are incredible and you can really feel the emotion they bring. I’m actually changing my pick for Best Actress to Scarlett Johansson because of how great she is in this movie. Driver and Johansson play off each other very well and it almost seems like they’re a real couple going through the divorce process. Laura Dern does good too and I think I might have to choose her to win Supporting Actress. The screenplay was very good and it was very well written and it didn’t feel like there was a dull moment in the movie. The pacing was slow at times but I think that’s because writer-director Noah Baumbach is trying to develop the story in a way where can truly understand these characters. Overall, I think Marriage Story deserves each of its six Oscar Nominations, but I think it’ll win two of them and those being Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. I highly recommend this movie and I hope you all liked it as much as I did.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood! Movie Review!

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood! This movie excelled in everything! After watching this movie, I might have to rethink my pick to win “Best Actor” at the Oscars! Leonardo DiCaprio (Rick Dalton) delivers probably the best performance I’ve ever seen from him in this movie. He plays a television actor trying to become famous during the Golden Age of Hollywood. The scene where he is in the trailer making fun of his mistakes was incredible and quite funny. Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth was also very fun to watch and he is definitely my pick to win “Best Supporting Actor” at the Oscars this year. The cinematography was incredible and I loved the camera work, and it’s going to be a close race to for “Best Cinematography”. Quentin Tarantino is going to win “Best Original Screenplay” and it’s not even close. I liked the way Sharon Tate was used as a sort of decoy for the movie. You think she’s gonna be murdered at the end but what really happens was simply one of the best scenes I have ever watched. The pacing was just right because I felt that they were giving the character time to develop and to setup an incredible third act. I would highly recommend seeing this movie!

Lawless! Movie Review!

Lawless! This film was really good! Based on a true story we follow Forrest (Tom Hardy), Howard (Jason Clarke) and Jack Bondurant (Shia LaBeouf) as they run a backwoods establishment that helps the hide their true business of making and selling moonshine. This film has a really good cast that also features Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman. Tom Hardy is fantastic but I think the real star is Shia LaBeouf because of how well his character development is. Along with that, I liked the screenplay a lot, but I’m not sure how accurate it is from the actual story. The score was good, it wasn’t the greatest, but I liked it in the scene at the end at the bridge because of how intense it made the scene feel. There were some shots where the cinematography looked amazing and very well done, but overall the cinematography was good and helped create the tone. Dane Dehaan as Cricket Pate was surprisingly very good, and I think he’s one of the more underrated actors out there. I might be wrong on this, but I think one of smaller messages of this film about family and how they are always there for each other. I know it came out in 2012, but this is very good movie that I think is underrated and not enough people are talking about. So I highly recommend you guys watch if you’re ever looking for a movie!
